About woodlawn Baptist church

  • Word-Driven

Recognizing that the Bible is the authoritative, infallible, and sufficient Word of God in which He has revealed Himself to mankind, we desire for everything we do to be driven by the Word of God. Our worship through preaching and singing, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and evangelism is all guided by the Word of God.

  • GOSPEL-CENTERED

The natural result of us seeking to be Word-Driven is that we are Gospel-Centered. The gospel is the climax of the biblical narrative, and the great redemptive work of Jesus that reconciles us to God. Because it is what fuel's our life, it is our central focus at Woodlawn. Read more about the gospel here.

  • Disciple-Making

Disciple-making is the heart of the gospel. It's what Jesus calls his church to be and do, "Go make disciples of all nations..." (Matthew 28:18-20). Through each of our ministries we seek to "equip [Woodlawn] for the work of ministry" (Eph. 4:12). In our discipleship ministries, such as Sunday School, Life Groups, and Discipleship Groups, we accomplish this task by providing Bible-based curriculum, accountability, practical training, and opportunities to "do the work of the ministry."

  • MISSION-ORIENTED

God's heart for the nations, expressed first in Genesis and continued throughout the entirety of the biblical text, is woven into all that WBC does. Our passion for the mission of God is seen in some of the following ways: Locally in events such as our weekly after school Bible club at Woodlawn Elementary, VBS, Upward, and Middle School Mania; Nationally through a church plant in Utah we are reaching Mormons; Globally through our partnership with the IMB in reaching an unreached Muslim people group in Southeast Asia, we are raising up nationals to take the gospel among them. In addition to this ongoing international partnership, Woodlawn takes regular trips around the globe to places like Japan, Belize, and Israel.
